Club Brugge claimed a hard-fought victory against Union Saint-Gilloise in their away match, winning 2-1. The first half was tough with few chances in front of both goals. They managed to take the lead in the 52nd minute, but things got tougher in the 65th minute when they were reduced to 10 men. However, they scored a second goal in the 74th minute. In the 82nd minute, they conceded a goal, but were not further threatened.

The team is coming off five consecutive victories in all competitions. Apart from the Conference League semifinals, they have climbed to the second spot in the standings, with a two-point gap from the top. Against Genk, they are aiming for a win to potentially reach the top of the table.

Goalkeeper Mignolet (28/0) remains sidelined. Midfielder Rits (26/2) and forward Olsen (29/11) are also out of the lineup.

The performance of Genk was very good in their home match against Anderlecht, which they won 2-1. They started strong early in the match and managed to take the lead in the score in the 14th minute. From then on, it was a balanced match and in the 75th minute, they conceded the equalizer from their opponent. They did not give up and in injury time of the game, they found the second goal to make it 2-1 from the penalty spot and thus take the three points.

With this win, Genk re-entered the title race, as they reduced the gap to four points from the top. They pay for the draw in the previous match against Cercle Brugge, as they could have gotten even closer. They need to push for a win against Club Brugge to move into second place in the standings.

The absence of defender Lucumi (4/0) will not affect the team. Missing from the midfield will be Heynen (25/6) and Onuachu (8/0), as well as forwards Bongonda (20/6) and Ongen (15/1).
