A painful defeat was experienced by Anderlecht in their away match against Genk with 2-1. They did not have the best start in the game and in the 14th minute they fell behind in the score against their opponent. They had some chances to equalize and they managed to do so in the 75th minute of the match showing that they would at least take a draw. However, in injury time of the game, they conceded a penalty from which they were defeated 2-1.

After Union’s defeat, they remained at the top of the standings, but saw Club Brugge reduce the gap to two points. Against Cercle Brugge, they can only see a win as a result that will certainly keep them at the top and they can also hope for their pursuers to lose points to increase the distance.

Midfielders Azar (22/4) and Versaren (15/0) are out.

The Club Brugge did not deliver its best performance in the home match against Antwerp, where they suffered a painful 1-0 defeat. The first half was a fairly balanced match with few chances in front of both goals. The same image was reflected in the second half, however, in the 66th minute they fell behind in score against their opponent without being able to react thereafter.

After four matches without a defeat, they failed to achieve a positive result against Antwerp. Thus, they remained in the last position of the standings, five points behind the European spots and the top four. They are called to make a turnaround against Anderlecht and get the result that will keep them alive.

In defense, there are problems as Nazinho (20/1), Meange (20/0), and Semedo (14/0) are sidelined.
