A very important victory was celebrated by KPR in their home match against Preston, which they won 1-0. Returning to success after three matches, they practically secured their stay. They conceded a third goal in the 87th minute but were not threatened with an equalizer.

A crucial victory for Leeds, as with this win they climbed to the second spot in the standings. They are one point behind 3rd placed Ipswich with one game in hand. They are called upon to win their last two matches and hope for a slip-up from Ipswich in their last three matches for a direct return to the Premier League without the need to compete in the play-offs.

Defender Strui (23/3) remains sidelined. The absence of James (40/13) is significant from the midfield.
